A student documentary from HIS 3015 in Fall 2009

In September of 1957, three years after the U.S. Supreme Court struck down the long-standing “separate but equal” law that segregated schools. Buena Vista Elementary School became the first integrated school in Nashville. Fifty-two years later, students in the HIS 3015 Junior Cornerstone class at Belmont University produced a documentary on the little-known story. The class in Historic Documentary Filmmaking was divided into three groups; each group was responsible for the research, interpretation and production for the story the group selected.
